Art Strike
Members of the Art Workers’ Coalition (AWC) joined with other workers in the arts, including groups such as Women Artists in Revolution (W.A.R.) and United Black and Puerto Rican Artists, to plan a general strike by artists, galleries and museums to protest against President Nixon’s covert bombing of Cambodia, and the killings of protestors at Kent State universities by the National Guard and at Jackson State, Mississippi, by the police.
