W. H. Crouwel, director of Museum Boymans-van Beuningen, Rotterdam, writes to Alfonso E. Pérez Sánchez, director of the Museo del Prado, to present the exhibition project on Guernica which is being planned to mark the 50th anniversary of the Nazi bombing of the city, and requesting certain works from the Museo del Prado. After consulting the Board of Trustees, Pérez Sánchez replies that only three or four preparatory drawings may be loaned out, as well as Weeping Woman's Head. In view of this situation, and due to the initial planning of the exhibition, Crouwel informs Sánchez that the show has been cancelled.
