This special issue of Parabólica magazine, which was triggered by the appearance of the first International Biennial of Contemporary Art of Seville (BIACS 1, October 1 – December 26, 2004), critically discussed the celebration of a biennial that was organised with an unawareness of the cultural, artistic, political and economic background of the city. The publication saw a variety of people and collectives working within Seville’s cultural community question the dynamics that produce this kind of event.
