Targets (study after Guernica)
Following Alma Kulinsky, an expert curator on Picasso and his reinterpretations, Etrog made this painting during a turbulent period of his life, after witnessing a flood in Florence and being the victim of a car accident. Although inspired by Guernica, Targets is also part of a whole series of works dominated by the leitmotif of the bull, related to La Tauromaquia by Francisco de Goya. Thus, it replaces the characters of the original by bulls. More information at: https://www.aci-iac.ca/art-books/sorel-etrog/key-works/targets-study-after-guernica/
