The video proposes a forensic archeology of some quintessential images for the conformation of the Spanish national identity, making a historical journey through the iconography of Santiago Matamoros and stopping at the promulgation of the image as a tool for the ideological struggle in the hands of the Catholic Counter-Reformation. 

It has other epicenters in the Pavilion of the Second Spanish Republic in Paris in 1937, Picasso's Guernica and Josep Renau's war poster work, with his characterization of the production of images and cultural management as a republican and antifascist battefield. The long final sequence is centered on a mass exhumation of victims of the Spanish Civil War and of Francoist repression at the foot of the Monastery of Uclés.
